Due to bad weather on the 25th May, this task has now been rescheduled to June 1st

Studland Common: Paths and areas adjacent to the Gate at South West corner of Studland Common.

Where to meet:

Access through Gate 9 at the junction of Cornwallis and Whitby Roads. Walk down path from Whitby Road keeping to the left and then right past reed beds and over ‘bog bridge’, then up slope to common. I will put up marker tape on trees as a guide.

Tasks; Access and Drainage

1.Clear vegetation around approaches to gate and along adjacent footpaths. Clear vegetation (inc. rhododendrons) in previously cleared (& planted?) areas. Cut up larger branches and dispose of clear of paths.

2.Investigate old drainage ditches and attempt drainage improvements to adjacent footpaths.

Generally;

If it’s inclement on the day the intention is to reschedule the task to the same day of the following week.

Please bring water/refreshments, gloves and to wear sturdy footwear. With summer coming along a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent are also worth packing. Long trousers and safety glasses are recommended and as usual please bring loppers, bow saws, plus shovels plus mattocks etc if you prefer the heavier work.
