Milford Conservation Volunteers was formed in 2012 by merging the 2 like minded groups: the Milford Environment Group (MEG) and the Wildlife Recording Group (WRG).
MEG was established in the early 1990’s following the 1987 hurricane which devastated Sharvells Copse. In particular, we thank the enthusiasm of MEG’s first Chairperson, Sandra Ebbetts, and the late Phil Gossling (their second Chairman) and of course their first committee members Heather Allery, Julia Poole, Rosemary Crumby, Peggy Statton-Bevan, Ernie Goldsworthy and the late Bill Smith.
Some of the original Milford Environment Group (MEG) Committee members from the early 1990’s.
The late Tony Locke together with Anne Jenks and Keith Metcalf were founder members of the WRG. Anne Jenks was the last person to chair MEG and also the first person to chair the WRG went on to be the first chair of MCV when it was formed in January 2012.
A more detailed history can be found in Keith Metcalf’s book: ‘The Birth of Meg‘
