Not many conservation organisations can say they have a fully published Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) , but in 2015,after over 2 years of hard work by a variety of wildlife champions, MCV did just that. Here you can find more details of their journey.
Can you help complete the next stage of our journey ?
The current plan has guided us successfully through the past six years (2015-2021). It has served the group well and has been used to help protect and enhance our parish nature reserves, habitats, flora and fauna. Now at the beginning of 2022 we have set up a new BAP working group for a second phase. The initial document was very thorough and can still provide the backbone to guide us through the next five year period 2022 – 2027. The aim of the Phase II working group will be to review all actions within the plan, determine which are complete, obsolete or ongoing and then adding new items.
So do you have a hobby or interest that might help our wildlife which you would like to take to the next level? Would you be interested in being a ‘Champion’ or perhaps could join an existing group to help? If you thought committee work was more your area then there are 66 action plans to ‘get your teeth into’ – more members to take this work forward are always welcome – and after all, these 66 actions are not going to happen overnight, but they will be planned and prioritised over a number of years.
