At the AGM on 27th April, MCV was pleased to award last year’s volunteer of the year award to Keith Metcalf, a founder member of MCV in 2015 and part of the WRG before that. (you can find a history of MCV here)
During his time on the committee, he was instrumental in creating our Biodiversity Action Plan which sets out the many ways the environment in our Parish could achieve maximum biodiversity. Indeed the plan for Studland common has already brought fruit with the butterflies numbers increasing year on year, compared to elsewhere in the forest.
Keith has been a regular volunteer and was behind MCV’s many achievements and education of the community which led to MCV being awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary services in 2021.
He continues to support MCV and amongst many other things runs regular birding boat trips through the winter months.
